SHOULD I CHECK MY EXHAUST SYSTEM?

A well-maintained exhaust system is essential for ensuring that your car operates smoothly. The exhaust system in your car, which includes the catalytic converter, ensures that the engine runs effectively and that hazardous gases are removed from the engine. As a result, every time you step behind the wheel, you can expect a safer, more pleasant ride.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HAVING YOUR EXHAUST SYSTEM CHECKED REGULARLY

If you see any signs of rust on your exhaust, check to determine if the problem is internal or exterior. Surface-level rust on the outside is typically not a problem. Rust that has come from the inside could indicate structural damage.

When checking for rust, lightly touch the area with a screwdriver to see if there are any apparent holes or if you can feel any weakness. Your vehicle may require a new exhaust if this is the case. You might find that replacing more than just the problematic part is more cost effective in the long run.

Your exhaust system's performance is dependent on the catalytic converter or DPF (diesel particulate filter). When the converter or DPF fails, the exhaust emissions contain more hazardous gases, lowering fuel economy. Temperature variations in the exhaust system cause some of the most common catalytic converter or DPF problems, which can prevent it from working properly.
