Wheel Alignment (Tracking) plays an important part in tyre life. If the geometry of the vehicle isn't within manufacturer's tolerance then uneven tyre can result. In effect with just a few millimeters of incorrect ”toe-in” alignment, the outer shoulder of the tyre will take 4-5 the amount of wear than the rest of the tyre. e.g After a 5 mile drive the outer edge will have the equivalent of 20-25 miles of wear.

Alignment issues will always happen over time and needs to be periodically reset but after any heavy pothole bang or kerb incident it is advisable to have your alignment checked.
